ProfitWell Metrics
Free subscription analytics — MRR, churn, and LTV reporting funded by Paddle's paid products.
About ProfitWell Metrics
Free is the whole strategy here. Paddle gives ProfitWell Metrics away and makes its money on adjacent paid products like Retain, the churn-recovery tooling — a model that survived Paddle's acquisition of ProfitWell for over $200 million in May 2022, one of the larger bootstrapped SaaS exits on record. (Patrick Campbell founded the company in Boston in 2012 as Price Intelligently and took no institutional funding before the sale.) The product delivers MRR, churn, LTV, ARPU, and cohort reporting out of the box, with benchmarking drawn from more than 30,000 subscription companies, and it plugs directly into the Paddle Billing dashboard while still working as a standalone tool on non-Paddle billing sources. The catch is freshness: dashboards refresh every three to six hours, not in real time, so anyone who needs to watch revenue move minute by minute will end up paying Baremetrics or ChartMogul for faster updates. For everyone else, this remains the default free answer in subscription analytics.
